The Long Island Edge took an exciting 4-1 victory against the Cutting Edge King Cobras in their hockey match on Saturday.
Eric Barbero opened th e scoring in the first period, with Matthew Gentiles goal in the first also proving to be the game-winning goal. Dylan Giordano sealed the victory with a goal in the second period.
The scoring got started when Barbero put one past Cutting Edges goalie at 1:14 and 14 seconds into the game, increasing his total goals this season to 15. Gentile then scored with 3:59 left in the first period, assisted by Luke Katsihtsis, to give Long Island a 2-0 lead heading into intermission. Ryan Cook briefly cut into their lead with a goal for Cutting Edge at 2:01:10 in the second, but it wasnt enough -- Dylan Giordano scored off an assist from Thomas Granahan at 2:21:13 to bring them up 3-1, and Long Island held on from there for the 4-1 victory.
