The Long Beach Lightning had a spectacular game on Saturday night, cruising to an 8-2 victory against the Northwest Icehawks. The Lightning scored seven goals in the first two periods, with Gianluca Durso and Luke Kohlmier scoring for the Icehawks. The Lightning erupted for six unanswered goals in that span, powered by Kelly Cardo (1G 1A), Luca Petrone (3G 2A), John Amitrano (1G), and Chase Oliverio (1G) to open up a huge lead, and they never looked back. Petrone had a hat trick on the night and was named game MVP. The game-winning goal came in the first period from Cardo at the 14:18 mark. The Lightning will now look to continue their winning streak against their next opponents.
