Queens Mafia Edges Optional Skates in Hockey Showdown
The Queens Mafia pulled away with a narrow victory over Optional Skates on Tuesday night in an exciting hockey matchup. The Mafia took the lead in the first period with a goal from Thomas Waldron, assisted by George Liapis. This was quickly followed up by another goal from Waldron as well as a goal from Antonio Costantino to put them up 3-0. In the third period, Optional Skates rallied with four unanswered goals from Ross Kleinschmidt, Joe Hirschbein, Eric Ludwig and Nicholas Lang to tie things up at 4-4. However, Queens Mafia managed to shut down their opponents offense and secure a 6-4 victory thanks in part to two additional goals from Waldron and one more from Costantino. Antonio Lepore was credited with the win for Queens Mafia on the back of four goals allowed and 45 minutes played, while Chris Kehoe saved six of ten shots directed at him between the pipes for Optional Skates.
